Loriene Perera is The 3.2 Shooter. I specialize in photography for special occasions (i.e. weddings, birthdays, events), as well as crafting food and beverage images. I currently work as a photo editor with Reuters by day. Occasionally, I get special requests from clients asking me to salvaging pictures taken at their weddings and other special events.  Here at The 3.2 Shooter, it is my primary goal to provide quality and affordable service to my clients.

The origin of “The 3.2 Shooter”

I have been dabbling in photography since I was 8 years old, fiddling with disposable and toy cameras. Having come from a family of photographers, I was naturally intrigued and fascinated with the world of photography. The moniker started as a joke when I switched to digital photography in 2004. I often found myself surrounded with people who had cameras of higher megapixel count (the megapixel myth: higher megapixel = better photos). So I went forth to proof my point that my humble 3.2 megapixel camera too could take good pictures. Thus I christened myself “The 3.2 Shooter”.

Four years later I upgraded to a DSLR, which now begs the question among friends, am I still “The 3.2 Shooter”? I believe I still am, despite currently having access to better equipment. My photography ethos remains the same: Maximize your available resources regardless how restrictive they are, and capturing the essence of the moment. Photography is about appreciating the world around you, not gear envy.
