Loriene Perera is an architectural, food & portrait photographer based in Singapore.
Loriene has been dabbling in photography since she was 8 years old. Having come from a family of photographers, she was naturally intrigued and fascinated with the world of photography.
Why do I call myself “The 3.2 Shooter”?
It started as a joke when I had switched to digital photography in 2004. I often found myself surrounded with people who had cameras of higher megapixel count (the megapixel myth: higher megapixel = better photos). So I went forth to proof my point that my humble 3.2 megapixel camera could do the same job as the higher megapixel cameras. Thus I christened myself “The 3.2 Shooter”.
4 years later I upgraded to a DSLR, which now begs the question among friends, am I still “The 3.2 Shooter”? To me, I still am, despite the fact that I now use a more sophisticated camera. My photography ethos remains the same: Maximize your available resources regardless how minimal they are. Photography is about appreciating the world around you, not gear envy.
